Alberta Business MagazineThe Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta has been publishing the UAlberta Business Magazine twice a year since Fall 2004. Recently, it underwent a rebranding and redesign from which it emerged with a clean, modern, bold look, well illustrated and well designed pages and interesting, well written and informative content, even if you’re not one of their alumni. The Fall 2016 issue runs 36 pages with content presented in three departments — Live, Work, and Learn — in addition to feature stories such as the evolution of the School over the past 100 years along with class notes submitted by the alumni.

CRTC Considers 11 Applications for New Radio Station(s) in Edmonton on September 27

new Edmonton radio stationsOn September 27, 2016, the CRTC held hearings  at the Radisson Hotel in Edmonton to consider 11 applications to operate  new ethnic commercial AM and FM radio stations, as well as an application for a new French language community radio station, to serve Edmonton. Several of the applications are competing for the same frequency. CRTC will announce its decisions on these applications in the next 6 to 9 months.

Media Moves in Alberta | October 2016

mark-iypeMark Iype took over as Editor-in-Chief for both the Edmonton Sun and Edmonton Journal on October 1 from Lorne Motley, who has taken a role as vice-president of editorial for Postmedia’s western region. Iype came to Edmonton in 2014, to oversee city and business coverage. Previously, Iype was a senior editor at the Telegraph-Journal in Saint John, N.B., and a reporter/editor at Canwest News Service in Ottawa.

Alberta Film: Violent, Shortlisted for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2016 Academy Awards

violentViolent, the audacious, award-winning Norwegian-language Canadian film created by Vancouver-based production company Amazing Factory, produced in conjunction with Calgary’s own boutique film company Media Darling, was screened in Calgary on October 13 as part of the Calgary Cinematheque’s tenth anniversary season. The debut feature from director Andrew Huculiak, drummer for innovative Vancouver indie group We Are The City, Violent was shortlisted for competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
