91.7 The Bounce and 102.3 BOB FM Launch On Line – More Interaction, More Content

Rogers Media announced today that two of the newest brands in their 55 radio station footprint have launched new “best in class” web destinations. 91.7 The Bounce in Edmonton and 102.3 BOB FM in London recently joined the Rogers group of radio stations. The new web destinations give both BOB and The Bounce the ability to publish real time content that can be easily shared across their listeners’ social networks. The websites are built with the popular blog style format and are designed to get listeners quickly and easily to the content that matters the most to them.

Sun News Network Loses Prime Time Anchor

Sun News Network has lost Mercedes Stephenson, one of its prime-time anchors, just days prior to its launch.  A spokesperson stated that  Stephenson was not  suitable and that the split was a mutual arrangement. Stephenson who is a columnist and military analyst had been hired to co-host a political series called “Daily Brief” with David Akin, the Sun’s national bureau chief in Ottawa.  The show will continue with Atkin being the sole host.

Earlier this week Sun News announced it had signed a distribution agreement with Shaw Communications to be distributed to homes in Western Canada and Ontario starting on the launch day slated for April 18, 2011.

Paul Godfrey on his Plans for Postmedia Network in Canada

Terry Field, associate professor and program chair of the journalism major in the Bachelor of Communication program at Mount Royal University in Calgary interviews Paul Godfrey about the steps Postmedia Network is taking to reach some level of financial stability. Godfrey talks enthusiastically about the “digital first” focus for Post Media papers quickly adding that “digital first does not mean print last.”

Launch to the Moon at the Edmonton Poetry Festival | April 26

Here’s a super-hot presentation by two of North America’s best-known names in spoken word: Sheri-D Wilson and Regie Cabico.  Sheri-D – the Mama of Dada – and Regie — the Lady Gaga of Poetry – have more awards and performance credits than  NASA has astronauts, and they’re going to lift you off your feet. Together, they’re launching the brand-new Spoken Word Workbook: inspiration from poets who teach, which will be the go-to resource for spoken word poetry. The book and interactive website lead reader/participants on a creative journey of discovery, with ideas from 28 professional spoken word artists. Contributors include the likes of bill bissett, George Elliott Clarke, Shane Koyczan and Anne Waldman (New York City).
