TV Station in Alberta: NUTV

NUTV CalgaryNUTV is Alberta’s only non-profit independent community access television station and one of the oldest campus-based, television production societies in Canada. Established in 1983 and incorporated in 1991, NUTV attracts viewers from the University of Calgary community and beyond. NUTV is part of the University of Calgary Tri-Media Alliance, comprising of print The Gauntlet, radio CJSW 90.9, and television (NUTV). U of C is the only Canadian university with three media operations on-campus.

Alberta TV Station: Crossroads Television in Edmonton and Calgary

Crossroads TVCrossroads Television System, or CTS, is a privately held Canadian television system with stations  in CKES in Edmonton, CKCS in Calgary and CITS in Hamilton, Ontario. CTS airs predominantly Christian-based religious programming, most notably 100 Huntley Street (the longest running daily Christian television program in Canada), The Michael Coren Show and LIFE Today with James & Betty Robison, as well as other religious and faith based programming, along with syndicated reruns of family-oriented mainstream programming such as Happy Days, Full House and The Waltons. This fall their lineup will also include: Larry King Now, Family Feud and Marie Osmond.

CBC Cancels Calgary Auditions for Recipe to Riches and Accepts Online Submissions until July 10

Recipe to RichesOn June 21, 2013, CBC posted this news release: “Due to extreme flooding in Calgary and the surrounding area, CBC’s new series RECIPE TO RICHES will be cancelling its Calgary open call on June 22, at the Real Canadian Superstore, location at 20 Heritage Meadows Way SE, Calgary, AB. CBC and its RECIPE TO RICHES partners, Loblaw Companies Limited and Temple Street Productions would like to express their sincere concern for all individuals affected by the recent flooding; our thoughts are with the people of Calgary and its surrounding areas during this difficult time. RTNDA Awards 2013RTDNA Canada, The Association of Electronic Journalists celebrated excellence in electronic journalism by announcing the winners of the RTDNA Canada Awards on Saturday, June 15, 2013. The Awards honour the very best in programming, stations and newsgathering organizations in radio, television and on digital platforms in Canada. All submissions must be produced by a licensed Canadian broadcaster or news service and broadcast between January 1st and December 31st, 2012. Entries are divided into ‘regional’ or ‘network’ categories. A network entry is one that was produced for broadcast in more than one market. If an entry is produced with the intent that it was to be broadcast in one market, but was subsequently broadcast in other markets, it qualifies as a regional entry. And the winners are…

Auditions for CBC’s Four Rooms in Calgary on Saturday, June 29 in Calgary

Four RoomsThe producers of CBC’s new series Four Rooms are hitting the road to find Canada’s most unique and valuable objects. The cross – country audition tour, which kicked off earlier thi s month, is stopping in Calgary on Saturday, June 29 , followed by additional stops in Halifax, North Hatley, wrapping with a final stop in Toronto.
