Global TV Goes on the Road for Local News in Calgary

global-calgaryCICT-TV now branded Global TV Calgary first signed on the air on October 8, 1954 as CHCT, and was the first television station in the province of Alberta. On September 4, 2000, CICT joined the Global Television Network full-time as an owned-and-operated station, along with fellow Alberta stations CITV-TV in Edmonton and CISA in Lethbridge. On September 11, 2011, CICT debuted a two-hour Sunday magazine-styled morning newscast, running from 8-10 a.m.

Breakfast TV CalgaryBreakfast Television (BT) is the branding used for morning shows broadcast by stations of Rogers Media’s television network City. As of May 2015, versions of Breakfast Television are broadcast in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary. Breakfast Television Calgary features Co-Hosts Ted Henley and Jill Belland, who also hosts the on-location segments, Leah Sarich as the health reporter, Andrew Schulz as the weather reporter, and Mike Yawney as the tech new reporter.

CBC Edmonton Moves Towards Integrated Four-Platform News Coverage

CBC-EdmontonAs of September 28, you can now watch Edmonton AM on CBC TV Edmonton from 6 to 7 am every weekday. The radio studio now has  video cameras to broadcast the popular morning current affairs program and its host, Mark Connelly, along with his in-studio guests on CBC TV in Edmonton. On radio, Edmonton AM continues to run from 5:30 am to 8:30 am on weekdays.

CBC Edmonton Wins Four National Investigative Awards from the Canadian Association of Journalists

CBC NewsCBC Investigates, the investigative unit of CBC Edmonton, has won four national awards for “Aura of Power,” the series of stories which exposed the personal and political misuse of public resources by former Alberta premier Alison Redford. The investigative unit – with reporters Charles Rusnell and Jennie Russell – won the Don McGillivray award for best overall investigative story from the Canadian Association of Journalists at its annual conference on June 6 after earlier winning in the community broadcast category.

Rosie Awards Celebrate Alberta Film, TV & Digital Media Productions, Actors, Artists, Hosts & News Producers

Ampia Awards 2015Celebrating the best in TV, film and digital media production in Alberta, the Alberta Film & Television Awards honoured 58 Alberta productions and film artists at the Shaw Conference Centre on Saturday, May 23. Calgary productions and artists won the highest number of awards but the production that won the most awards was The Great Human Odyssey, an ambitious interactive TV miniseries by filmmaker Niobe Thompson of Edmonton-based Clearwater Documentary.
