Workshop > eMail and Social Media Communications for NonProfit Organizations, Edmonton – July 19, and Calgary – July 20, 2012

eMail-Social-Media-Marketing in Edmonton and CalgaryProactive, outbound Email and Social Media marketing is an increasingly important component of many nonprofit organization’s marketing and communications strategies. This presentation will demonstrate the many ways that nonprofit organizations can tell their stories while educating, informing and growing support for their organizational causes using Email Newsletters and a Facebook business page. The two presenters, Guy Steeves, Regional Director of Development for Constant Contact, and me, Marilyn Jones, will tag team the presentation on July 19 in Edmonton and July 20, 2012 in Calgary on both days from 1:00 to 3:30pm.  Fees $25 for members, $45 for non-members of the ECVO or the CCVO. The Edmonton workshop is sponsored and hosted by the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organization (ECVO) and all proceeds will be donated to them. Media Research Administration Work Study Program at The Banff Centre Invites Applicants

Banff Centre Media StudiesThis Media Research Administration Work Study Program provides the opportunity to assist in the development of strategic initiatives at The Banff Centre in Digital Media Research. The work study participant will develop research, communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills through their work with Banff Centre staff, faculty and artists. Duties will include research on a variety of topics focusing on transmedia content and delivery platforms, implementation strategies for digital media incubation and assisting with the development of evaluation frameworks. The participant will have the opportunity to engage in discussions about film and media programming, attend formal lectures, workshops, and cultural events, expand their personal artistic network, and participate in various discussion groups, community outreach initiatives, and project committees.

Attendees will learn how to use Themes, Plugins, Widgets, and basic HTML to design a blog that matches your website and helps recruit new e-newsletter subscribers, online donors, and supporters on Facebook, Twitter and social media networks. From basic to advanced, this workshop explores the WordPress interface and toolset. Attendees learn how to insert select and insert images and videos into blog posts, monitor statistics on visitors and comments, and create an editorial content system that enables you to assign, track and monitor upcoming blog posts from multiple authors. Blogging best practices in terms of post frequency, length, tone, and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) are also covered in detail.
