Alberta Producers Nominated for 2015 Rockie Awards

Rockie AwardsThe nominees for the Rockie Awards were announced on Friday, April 17 and four Alberta production companies have been recognized! The Rockie Awards, held each year at the Banff World Media Festival is the largest program competition of its kind, with industry members from over 40 countries participating in this prestigious awards program. The Rockie Awards celebrates narrative content across 26 categories in drama, documentary, kids, and digital.

Alberta Weekly Newspapers Shine at the 2015 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards

Community Newspaper Awards 2015On March 30, the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards were handed out in celebration of the very best in community publishing from across Canada. Alberta weeklies took home numerous awards, some many: the Rocky Mountain Outlook and the St Albert Gazette tied for winning the most – six each. The 2015 competition saw 264 publications from coast to coast submit over 2,700 entries representing their best work from 2014.

Book Publishers of Alberta Invites Submissions for 2015 Alberta Book Publishing Awards Until March 31

Book-AwardsThese awards celebrate excellence in book publishing in Alberta in fourteen categories. This year’s Alberta Book Awards Gala will be held on September 18, 2015 at Fort Edmonton Park. Recipients of the 2015 Alberta Book Awards will be announced at the gala, along with the recipients of the Publisher of the Year, Book Illustration and Lifetime Achievement Awards.  The event will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Book Publisher’s Association of Alberta.

Alberta Shot and Produced TV Series Fargo Nominated for 18 Emmy Awards and Gets a Green Light for Series Two

Emmy AwardsAlbertans working on U.S. and international series shot or posted in Canada earned a number of Emmy nominations. Calgary’s Jackie Lind is nominated for best casting perhaps due to the fact that the Alberta-shot FX series Fargo was nominated in all acting categories. Also nominated for work on the mini-series is Albertan Frank Laratta, for Outstanding Sound Editing in a mini-series. In all Fargo received 18 Emmy Award announced on July 10, 2014.
