AMPIA Announces the 2017 Rosie Award Winners for Excellence in Film, TV & Multimedia Productions in Alberta

The 2017 nominations for the Alberta Film and Television Awards, dubbed the Rosies, were announced in downtown Calgary on April 29 by the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA), with Calgary  production companies Joe Media Group and SEVEN/24 Films tied for the most finalists with 17 each.

Each year, the Alberta Literary Awards recognize and celebrate the highest standards of literary excellence from Alberta authors. The award juries deliberated on more than 220 submissions to select the following 24 finalists in eight categories.

AMPIA Announces the 2017 Alberta Film & Television (aka Rosie) Award Nominees

Rosie-Awards2017AMPIA announced the 2017 Rosie Nominees at simultaneous press conferences in Calgary and Edmonton on Tuesday, March 28. A total of 723 class and craft entries were submitted. This year 72 industry professionals from across Canada adjudicated the submissions; in total 291 productions were submitted for consideration. These productions, from commercials, new media, and both long and short form fiction and non-fiction are vying for 23 Class awards.

68th Annual National Newspaper Award Nominees Announced on March 20, 2017

National-Newspaper-AwardsToronto’s Globe and Mail leads all entrants in the 68th National Newspaper Awards competition with 19 nominations. Montreal’s La Presse has nine finalists, the Toronto Star eight, the Canadian Press five, and the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and Winnipeg Free Press each have three nominations in the competition, which is open to daily newspapers, news agencies, as well as online news sites approved for entry by the NNA Board of Governors.

AMPA Celebrates Excellence in Magazine Publishing in Alberta at the 2017 Alberta Magazine Awards

AMPA-Awards2017Nearly 300 of the brightest talents in the Alberta magazine industry gathered in downtown Calgary March 16 to honour the winners of the Alberta Magazine Awards. The annual event, staged by the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association (AMPA), showcases the outstanding work of magazine professionals from across the province, judged by industry leaders from across North America. Awards were presented for excellence in magazine content published in 2016 in 21 Showcase categories and five Achievement award categories.
