Scott Eastwood, son of Client Eastwood, to star in Alberta-shot film, Diablo

Lorraine Bodnarek and Ed Cyrankiewicz are big Clint Eastwood fans who have prospered in Alberta’s booming economy. They never thought they would combine the two – Clint and career. The Edmonton couple are investing $500,000 to help an Alberta-born director and his partner try to recreate some of the Eastwood Western magic of such films as Unforgiven, this time with the star’s youngest son Scott in the lead role.

HBO Documentary “Apology to Elephants” To Screen at Metro Cinema on October 6

ElephantAs part of their Free Lucy Campaign, the Edmonton-based Voices for Animals Society will present the HBO documentary special An Apology to Elephants, narrated and produced by Emmy Award winner Lily Tomlin. They will also be showing a brief segment of the CBC fifth estate documentary The Elephant in the Room, a documentary that focuses attention on Lucy, the lone elephant at Edmonton’s Valley Zoo. Admission is free.

Edmonton Filmmaker Kyle Armstrong Wins the $10,000 EIFF Award for “Magnetic Connections”

Magnetic ConnectionsKyle Armstrong’s 13 minute documentary film, Magnetic Reconnection, was awarded the $10,000 EIFF’s $10,000 prize at their opening night gala on September 27. The film contrasts the Northern Lights with decaying debris littered throughout the landscape in Canada’s Arctic.
