Windpeaker Newspaper AlbertaWindspeaker is Canada’s national Aboriginal Newspaper and has coverd the news, issues and people in the Aboriginal community in Alberta and then throughout Canada since 1983. It is published monthly by the Aboriginal Multi-Media Society (AMMSA), an independent Aboriginal communications organization based in Edmonton, Alberta that is committed to facilitating the exchange of information reflecting Aboriginal culture to a growing and diverse audience. Alberta Magazine of Interest: New Tribe Magazine

New Tribe Magazine CalgaryNew Tribe is a monthly magazine published in Calgary since February 2010 by the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth and distributed throughout the city and surrounding communities. The goal of New Tribe is to be the voice of urban Aboriginal youth from twelve to twenty nine and beyond. Their mission is to promote a positive outlook on Aboriginal living in an urban setting by promoting and sharing information within the community. New Tribe aims to provide Aboriginal youth with stories of inspiration, and invite them to share their own stories and get involved in the community. Youth are encouraged to contribute to the magazine, whether it be artwork, fiction, poetry or journalism. Each month they profile a youth who has made a difference and is taking steps towards achieving their goals. They also regularly feature “Cool Jobs” and profile people in different industries with interesting careers to give youth a closer look at opportunities available to them. Read more »
