On April 29, Rosie Awards will be handed out to recognize excellence in Film, Television and Digital Production in Alberta at the annual Gala for the Alberta Film & Television Awards. As the primary fundraiser for the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA), the evening brings out Alberta’s brightest stars and industry professionals to honour and celebrate the year’s best in production. Over fifty Rosie Awards will be presented, recognizing excellence in all aspects of Alberta’s screen-based content.
A total of 723 class and craft entries were submitted this year. These productions, from commercials, new media, and both long and short form fiction and non-fiction are vying for 23 Class awards. In addition, Alberta’s talented screenwriters, costume and production designers, cinematographers, editors, directors, make-up artists, special effects artists, sound technicians and composers (totalling 193 finalists) are competing in 33 Craft categories. Each winner receives the prestigious Rosie Award.
Up for the Best Dramatic Series Award along with Heartland and Hell on Wheels is Wynonna Earp by Calgary’s SEVEN24 Films:
