open-doorWhile journalists at media outlets in Alberta are always coming & going, there have never been so many going as there were this past month. Sadly, at the Calgary Herald, Calgary Sun, Edmonton Journal and Edmonton Sun, on January 19, Postmedia cut 60 positions in order to combine newsrooms in locations where they publish two dailies. These cuts not only resulted in many experienced, talented and dedicated journalists pushed out the door in Alberta, but also resulted in distinctive voices quieted.
