Gold, Silver and Honourable Mentions were awarded at their annual gala in Toronto n June 5. Calgary’s UPPERCASE magazine received an honourable mention.  See the full list of NMA finalists, and browse the entries, at http://blog.magazine-awards.com.

Alas, UPPERCASE received an honourable mention and not the grand prize of Magazine of the Year. That distinction went to the Montreal’s Nouveau Projet. This is what the jury said about the magazine:

Nouveau Projet is a near-perfect symbiosis of subject matter, expert writing and exceptionally original design. It sets itself apart thanks to inspiring themes and bold covers. The magazine offers a fresh take on the genre and dares to cover topics that are virtually absent in other media. The energy of the editorial team is tangible page after page. Nouveau Projet embodies the spirit of print magazines.

Nouveau Projet also won Gold for Art Direction of an Entire Issue (“Automne/Hiver 2014”) and Words & Pictures (“La pointe des utopies”), and Silver for Editorial Package: Print (“Régénérescences”). Nouveau Projet launched in 2011 and was also a finalist for Magazine of the Year in 2014.
