Cara Fullerton, Global Calgary’s anchor and reporter announced she’ll be leaving the broadcast industry after 14 years to pursue a career in health and fitness. Fullerton previously worked for CFSK Saskatoon and Global in Halifax. Currently Fullerton was on Global Calgary’s Morning News and co-anchored the Noon News Hour on weekdays. Her last day with Global Calgary will be August 14.
Dave Breakenridge, is the new editor-in-chief of the Edmonton Sun. He was formerly content editor with the Calgary Sun. His first day of work was June 23. He replaces Steve Serviss who has been promoted to a new role within the Sun Media chain in Ontario. His first day of work was July 1.
Anne Marie Owens is the new editor of the National Post. She is the first woman to hold the top editorial sport at a national newspaper in Canada.
Kerry Powell is the new managing editor for Global TV Edmonton. Formerly the Director of Digital Products for the Edmonton Journal and for Postmedia Network . Her first day of work was April 15 so she’s probably learned the ropes by now.
Gavin Tucker is no longer with Rogers Calgary. For the last eight years, he’d been PD of JACK FM and KiSS 95-9. Before that, he spent 13 years at Rogers Kitchener in VP/GM and programming roles.
Jeff Lewis, Calgary-based energy reporter for the Financial Post is moving to the same position for the Globe & Mail. Prior to his position at the Financial Post, he was a senior writer for Alberta Oil magazine.
Edmonton blogger Mastermaq reports in his most recent Media Edmonton Monday column that Julie Nolan from CTV Edmonton is off to CTV Vancouver to report for duty on Monday, July 28 and that Shallima Maharaj has moved from Saskatoon tto work at Global Edmonton.
Erin Skye Kelly, co-host of 770 News Talk CHQR Calgary’s Kingkade & Kelly Show, has resigned. According to Broadcast Dialogue, the professional speaker and author began with the station a year ago, in July 2013.
Grant Johnson is the new evening host at Hot 107 Edmonton. Before that Johnson had been with Harvard Broadcasting’s sister station The Fox in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
Tim Schutz, Program Director at 95.7 CRUZ fm Edmonton, announced he plans to leave at the end of August for personal reasons. Prior to his two years at CRUZ, Schutz was PD at107.7 The River Lethbridge and Music Director at Rogers stations in Calgary.
Kelsey Moore, midday host for Calgary’s AMP 90.3 FM, is moving to XL103 FM, both Newcap stations. After three years of at a station with a contemporary hits format, she’ll now be playing classic hits.
Mike Chalut and Helena Schaper are the new host of the morning show at 91.7 The BOUNCE Edmonton, as of July 17. Before joining The Bounce, Chalut was the afternoon host on Proud FM Toronto for five years where Schaper was his co-host and producer. The Mike Chalut Show airs weekly from 5:30 to 10am.
Munro Cullen is now senior creative director of communications, marketing and brand department at CBC. Cullen was formerly a copy writer with Shaw Media, CanWest and Alliance Atlantis. In his new role with the CBC, Cullen will be responsible for building the creative behind marketing pushes for programming on the channel.
