Lincoln Ho EdmontonIt’s been a long time since I laughed aloud while watching a video on YouTube and I confess, I have never laughed aloud before at one produced in Edmonton – until today. Check out Lincoln Ho’s YouTube channel, laugh away and consider nominating him for a #YEGGIE award.

Here’s a video Lincoln shot and produced that made me laugh until I was almost giddy:

All The Ice Slides at Ice On Whyte 2014 | #Yegventures

And this one from the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes YWCA Edmonton Fundraiser

Those stopping by Churchill Square September 10, 2012  likely didn’t expect to see 120 men stepping into a pair of high heels to support YWCA Edmonton’s violence prevention and recovery programs for the 4th YWCA Edmonton Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. Over $100,000 was raised to help women and children walk away from family violence!

Lincoln Ho, an event participant and a loyal YWCA supporter, produced this video for the Y.

Though the cause is serious, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is fun and the men show such camaraderie as they join together in helping end family violence and pondering how to walk in those shoes.

And there are a LOT of shoes. YWCA supplies heels for the men in a variety of colours and styles. According to Sarah Teasdale, the event coordinator, “it takes 12 massive Rubbermaid containers to transport shoes between YWCA Walk a Mile events in Lethbridge, Banff, Calgary, and Edmonton.”

Another YWCA Edmonton event is soon coming up: the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Do you know a woman who has created such an impact in our local landscape that she deserves to be named alongside women like Carrie Doll, Teresa Spinelli & Sandra Bromley?  Now’s the time to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2014 Women of Distinction Awards in one of 8 categories:

  • Advocate
  • Arts & Culture
  • Educator
  • Entrepreneur & Businesswoman
  • Trailblazer
  • Turning Point
  • Volunteer
  • Young Woman of Distinction (18 & Under)

Nominate the extraordinary woman in your life. It could change hers! Nominations are open until March 28, 2014. Lincoln would appreciate it. If I had not seen his Walk a Mile in Her Shoes video, I would never have had the experience of sliding down all the slides at the Ice Festival or walking a mile in many other people’s shoes.

See more the YWCA Awards of Distinction, share the blog post with exceptional women you know, and download the nomination form at Call Sarah for more information at 780-423-9922 ext 249.
