More than a dozen celebrities are confirmed to join local poker players to raise awareness and funds to support the Edmonton Food Bank and Santas Anonymous at the 1st Annual Celebrity ALL-IN for Charity Poker Tournament. A series of charity poker events will take place from November 14th to 16th and conclude with the Celebrity main event on November 17th at 2pm, presented by Hot 107 FM.
This will be the first year that Casino Yellowhead has hosted the Celebrities ALL-IN for Charity Poker Classic, and they will target to raise over $20,000 in donations for Edmonton’s Food Bank and Santas Anonymous to split equally. Pure Canadian Gaming will host the charity event annually.
Giving back to the communities in which we operate is extremely important to Pure Canadian Gaming, especially during the holiday season,” said President & CEO George Goldhoff. “It’s exciting to bring celebrities on board to help us raise funds and awareness for two excellent family oriented causes, and we have agreed that any featured players who win prize money will donate half their winnings to the charities.
Among those confirmed to participate, subject to availability, are reality TV celebrities Russell Hantz (Survivor), Dan Gheesling (Big Brother U.S. winner), Kara Monaco (Big Brother U.S. & 2006 Playboy Playmate of the Year), Judd Daugherty (Big Brother U.S.), Talla Rejaei (Big Brother Canada), AJ Burman (Big Brother Canada), Topaz Brady (Big Brother Canada), Alec Beall (Big Brother Canada), Peter Brown (Big Brother Canada), Liza Stinton (Big Brother Canada), as well as World Series of Poker bracelet winners Calen McNeil and Dan Idema, and Hot 107 radio host, Ryder in the Morning.
The tournament will feature a fast-paced blinds structure designed to complete the competition within five hours. Seating for the tournament is limited and anyone who wants to participate is encouraged to pre-register at either Casino Edmonton (7055 Argyll Rd. Edmonton, AB) or at Casino Yellowhead (12464 153 St. Edmonton, AB).
Casino Yellowhead will be accepting donations for the charities throughout all of the events, and even if you’re not a poker player and just want to meet the stars, you’re invited to come out for a “Meet and Greet” with a donation to either charity from noon until 2pm when the tournament starts on November 17th.
We’d like to maximize the donations for our charities and involve as many people in the event as possible, even if they are unable to play,” says Joanne Jost, Poker Manager. “All of the celebrity participants are extremely excited to be working with these charities and have offered to meet with fans for pictures and autographs, with a donation to either charity.
Proceeds from Celebrity ALL-IN for Poker Classic will go to two charities: The Edmonton Food Bank, (www.edmontonsfoodbank.com) aiding in the collection of surplus and donated food for the effective distribution, free of charge, to people in need in Edmonton while seeking solutions to the causes of hunger, and Santas Anonymous, (www.santasanonymous.ca) devoted to bettering the lives of children in our community by delivering the “Spirit of Christmas” to less fortunate children in Edmonton.
