NUTV is Alberta’s only non-profit independent community access television station and one of the oldest campus-based, television production societies in Canada. Established in 1983 and incorporated in 1991, NUTV attracts viewers from the University of Calgary community and beyond. NUTV is part of the University of Calgary Tri-Media Alliance, comprising of print The Gauntlet, radio CJSW 90.9, and television (NUTV). U of C is the only Canadian university with three media operations on-campus.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of the studio audience for NUTV Full Frontal LIVE shows featuring news pieces intertwined with live performances from local bands, dance troupes, comedians and other entertainers. To be in the live studio audience check the LIVE show schedule: Facebook.com/nutv.ca/events. Audience members must arrive at the NUTV studio by 6:30 pm.
NUTV offers members free technical training and access to industry standard equipment. NUTV members are able to experience practical, hands-on training in many areas of television production including: reporting/interviewing; hosting; writing; camera operation; lighting; sound mixing; Final Cut Pro & Adobe Creative Suite editing; producing; and directing.
You’re invited to drop by a production meeting, watch their live show or come for an orientation tour at their offices located at the University of Calgary on the third floor of MacEwan Hall, next to the CJSW Office. They accept volunteers/new members all year long. No prior experience is required and you do not need to be a student to join.

Deanna oversees and develops the station’s communication strategy, advertising, public relations and public outreach initiatives. This includes developing partnerships in the community, sponsorship opportunities, organizing special events and all things social media. She manages the station identity through the creation of communications content for all platforms, most visibly with NUTV’s Campus Community Television Closed Circuit broadcast system at the University of Calgary.
