Western Magazine AwardsThe finalists of the 31st annual Western Magazine Awards have been announced. Alberta Oil is a finalist for Trade Magazine of the Year; swervecalgary.com is up for Best Online Magazine; and Alberta Venture, Eighteen Bridges and UPPERCASE are among the finalists for Magazine of the Year – Alberta/NWT. Eighteen Bridge’s “The Populist” by Curtis Gillespie, “Why Knot?” by Max Fawcett and “Glorious and Free. Mostly” by Russell Cobb is up against fellow AMPA member Swerve’s “A Woman’s Place is at the Altar” by Malwina Gudowska for Gold Award Best Article – Alberta/NWT) as well as Yellowknife-based Up Here’s “Where have you gone, Annie Pootoogook?” by Jasmine Budak.
