On Saturday, May 25 from noon to 5 pm, CKUA is hosting a free family party featuring live performances, special guests, tours of the storied music library and much more, both inside the studios at 9804 Jasper Avenue and in the park on the west side of the building. The party will happen come rain or come shine. Holger Petersen will be broadcasting Natch’l Blues live from the park, featuring a performance by Chicago blues legend Maurice John Vaughn and Grammy winner Donald Ray Johnson.
Some of the other featured performers include:
- 100 mile house
- The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s “Street Team” and the Pro Coro Choir
- Dancers from CariWest and the Alberta Dance Alliance
- The Hawaiian Sunset Band
- CKUA’s very own Ukulele Orchestra
Throughout the day, you’ll have a chance to tour CKUA’s music library and studios, and experience works of art courtesy of the talented young people at iHuman. Dan the Balloon Man will entertain the wee ones, and some of Edmonton’s finest food trucks will be close by with delectable culinary offerings.
CKUA marked its 85th year of broadcasting by moving into the re-built Alberta Hotel. Now that we’re all unpacked and settled in, we want to welcome friends and neighbours to see the new digs! See more info at www.ckua.com.
