630 CHED and CHQR’s Dave Rutherford is being awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for outstanding service to his community and country. He is being honoured for his contributions to radio journalism, his many years as a talk show host, and for his keen interest in human and public affairs. Dave was nominated by Senator Anne Cools, who says talk shows have become to many people the only place they can express an opinion on matters before us. He will receive the medal in a ceremony on Parliament Hill later this month. Dave Rutherford is a Canadian conservative political talk show host. His daily radio show, Rutherford, was the first Canadian radio talk program to be simulcast on television and now airs from 9am-12pm daily in Alberta on AM770 CHQR and 630 CHED. Rutherford is the number one rated radio show in Alberta, with an estimated daily audience of around 750,000 people. Rutherford has also served as the director of RTNDA Canada. He was named Broadcaster of the Year in 2006 by the Western Association of Broadcasters.
