Media MovesAfter 36 years with CKUA’s Chris Allen broadcast his last Arts Beat show on Friday, September 7, 2012. Chris began his 36-year broadcasting career at CKUA in September 1976. During that time he presented nearly every form of music and information programming including the program Something for Seniors, which he co-hosted with the oldest broadcaster in Canada at the time, Peggy Holmes. He hosted and produced a late night music program, a morning news and music program, jazz and classic music shows as well as radio dramas. Most recently, he has been at the helm of the arts coverage at the station with the shows Arts Alive, The Arts and Culture Guide as well as ArtBeat. Sarah Hoyles, with experience at CBC as radio producer, contributor and reporter for Definitely Not the Opera and other regional current affairs programs in Alberta, Manitoba and New Brunswick, has taken on the challenge of filling his very large shoes.

Nicola Crosbie meteorologist at Global TV Edmonton is now also the meteoroligist at Edmonton’s CHED and iNews880 radio stations.

Cam Tait has retired after 33 years as a full-time employee at the Edmonton Journal and reports are that he will soon start writing weekly columns for the Journal.

Richard Helm has moved from his position as Books editor of the Edmonton Journal to the op-ed department. Michael Hingston moved to books editor in September.

Peter Maser formerly Business Editor with the Edmonton Journal is now the editor of the St. Albert Gazette. Dan Barnes is now the Business Editor for the Journal.

Brent  Pushkarenko, formerly assignment editor at iNews880 (CHQT) in Edmonton is now the producer for CTV Morning Live in Edmonton. Craig Larkins their meteorologist has moved to Toronto to work for CBC News Network, CBC Toronto & The National (weekend editions). Replacing him is XXX?

Danielle Higdon is the new associate editor at Edmonton Woman Magazine and Edmonton Seniors monthly newspaper. Both publications have new owners and a new location in St. Albert. Fisal Asiff in partnership with the Great West Newspaper Group (publishers of the St Albert Gazette) are now the publishers.
