Calgary’s CJSW comedy show Am I Right? hosted by Evan Wilson and Jesse Pruden, was one of four shows nominated for the 2012 Canadian Comedy Awards alongside more well-established shows such as CBC Radio’s The Debaters and This is That. The dynamic duo will tape an hour long segment live from the Calgary Folk Festival on Sunday, July 29 and come face-to-face with some of their listeners for the first time. The show will include an underground radio all-star roster of guests, including Kid in the Hall Kevin McDonald, Fuel TV and Comedy Central regular Chris Fairbanks, musician and artist John Langford, and comic Derek Seguin.
In addition to Sunday’s taping, the Apache Talk Tent — the Calgary Folk Festival’s newest venue — will feature an array of events and panels hosted by Edmonton comedy duo Atomic Improv, former Mariposa Folk Fest artistic director Richard Flohil, as well as a segment devoted to celebrating the 100th anniversary of Woody Guthrie’s birth. For Wilson and Pruden, taping a show at the folk festival will also give them the opportunity to hustle up a few votes for those Canadian Comedy Awards (log on and vote at canadiancomedy.ca).
Listen in to “Am I Right” at 11 p.m. Wednesdays on 90.9 CJSW and catch them live Sunday, July 29 at 12:15 p.m. at the Apache Talk Tent at the Calgary Folk Music Festival.
