YWCA Women of Distinction AwardsJoin CTV’s Carrie Doll for one of the most inspiring events Edmonton has to offer. The YWCA Women of Distinction Awards celebrates the finest female leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and heroes in Edmonton.  The Women of Distinction Awards, first held in Edmonton in 1982, is an event that honours women who make major contributions to the culture and community of Edmonton. It is a chance to celebrate women who have done great things that might not have been recognized by the public. The YWCA Edmonton celebrates the 30th Annual Women of Distinction Awards May 31, 2012. The YWCA has made some exciting new changes and additions to the event to mark this 30 year milsteone. The event format has been streamlined to reflect the busy lives of our nominees and supporters, with a condensed presentation format and stronger focus on the nominees in each category.

Nominees across 8 categories (including me — read more below) will be honoured and the winner in each category announced the night of the event, Oscar style. The recipients bring amazing stories about their personal and professional triumphs, and relate how they overcame all types of barriers to become the successful women they are today.

The evening will include a Cocktail & Appetizer Reception, Award Ceremonies and a Silent Auction with dozens of unique and luxurious items to fit all styles and budgets. This event takes place at the Northlands EXPO Centre in the Alberta Ballroom from 7:00 to 9:30pm.
