CKUA Radio AlbertaCKUA’s Fall Fundraising Campaign runs from October 13 – 23, 2011. If you donate before midnight Sunday October 16th, you’ll be eligible to win their Early Bird Prize, generously donated by Classic Canadian Tours. Experience a once in a lifetime, one-day, all-inclusive excursion from Calgary or Edmonton to the remote northern seaport of Churchill, Manitoba to witness Polar Bears in their natural environment. Churchill is listed as one of Canada’s Top 10 most fascinating places in a current Canada Travel MSN slide show.
If you call in or donate online before midnight, Sunday, October 23rd, you’ll be eligible to win their grand prize (monthly donors automatically qualify) a trip to the New Orleans Jazz Festival. The Grand Prize, sponsored by AMA Travel, is a trip for two in late April to the 2012 New Orleans Jazz Festival! In case you need an extra incentive, consider the following facts:

April/May Average Temperature in New Orleans (Celsius): High: 27, Low: 17

The Grand Prize includes:

  • Airfare from Calgary or Edmonton to New Orleans
  • 3 nights’ accommodation, including breakfast
  • 2 day passes to the festival

CKUA kicks off their fall campaign Thursday, October 13th with Steve Fisher and a live edition of Fire on the Mountain. The bluegrass band High Country makes an appearance, along with some other musical friends of Steve (who, rumour has it, will be playing as well). Join Roy Forbes and Lark Clark on Tuesday October 18 for a special 2-hour Roy’s Record Room live from our Edmonton studio, from 6-8pm. Canada’s longest-running blues show, Holger Petersen’s Natch’l Blues, makes a splash on Saturday October 22nd with an appearance from MonkeyJunk. And as they wind things up on October 23rd, the last day of their campaign, Lark Clark’s guests on World Spinning include Micah Turchet and our beloved Belly Dancers.

You’re invited to join them at these unpredictable and spontaneous parties!

The best way – the most efficient and valuable way – to give to CKUA is to donate monthly through your bank. This way CKUA can plan for the future, doesn’t pay credit card fees, and knows that there is a stable source of funding with which to continue the station’s daily operations. Please call 780-428-2012 to set up your monthly donation – and thank you.

Volunteer, donate, spread the good word about CKUA to your friends and family, and answer their fundraising campaigns’ call for pledges.

Starting October 13, check for the Daily Special – where we profile the sponsors and their delicious wares.
