On October 3, 2011 the Journalists for Human Rights organization broadcast their inaugural hour-long special show, the Rights Check-Up. They went from Montreal to Vancouver to find out which human rights stories were making headlines across Canada. From an upcoming conference on the UN Responsibility to Protect (R2P) doctrine in Montreal, to protests and calls for former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney to be indicted for war crimes, the Rights Check-up investigated the state of the nation’s human rights. The segment also addressed the role social media can play in preventing mass atrocities and genocide. Listen to the podcast.
