The Writers Guild of Alberta (WGA) proudly invites you to Writing the History, Inscribing the Future, a landmark conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the largest provincial writing organization in Canada. Set to take place June 10 – 12, 2011 at Calgary’s Fairmont Palliser Hotel (133 – 9th Avenue SW) and the W.R. Castell Central Library (616 Macleod Trail SE), come join us in celebrating this milestone event! The deadline to register is June 3, 2011.
The WGA is planning three days full of interactive panels, workshops, lectures, blue pencil cafes, and speed networking sessions with a powerhouse lineup of authors including: Todd Babiak, Alice Major, Clem Martini, and Myrna Kostash to name a few. Visit to see the line-up!  Award-winning Canadian Author, Marina Endicott, will take to the stage, Friday Evening to deliver the conference’s keynote address. On June 11th, writers will flock to attend the 2011 Alberta Book Awards Gala; co-presented with the Book Publishers Association of Alberta, it is the largest literary award celebrations in the province!

The Writers Guild of Alberta was formed in 1980 to provide a meeting ground and collective voice for the writers of the province. Its mission is to inspire, connect, support, encourage and promote writers and writing, to safeguard the freedom to write and to read, and to advocate for the well-being of writers.
